iwoman has designed its website to run on a broad range of browsers and operating systems. this page sets out information as a guide to the site's "navigation process", the "technical requirements" to run the site properly, the "design standards" used when developing the site, and some "standards and navigation".

navigation

the following list details some of the site-wide navigation features that improve the overall accessibility of this site.

the primary navigation is a set of expandable menus that provide quick and easy access to the site's major content areas. these menus are text-based lists and will still work for users using alternative browsing technologies, or who have javascript and/or cascading style sheets (css) disabled.

a comprehensive "sitemap" provides one-click access to content deep within the site.

technical requirements

javaScript is used throughout this site. However, where possible, site content should still be accessible to users with javaScript disabled.

visual design has been optimised for monitors set at 1024 by 768 pixels resolution with a minimum of 16-bit colour depth. the site will still function for users on other settings but it may not be as visually appealing.

text resizing

you can make the text larger or smaller on this site, or on any website you visit by changing the settings on your computer.

how to change the text size

microsoft internet explorer 6.0 or greater

select view, select text size from the menu and choose a size from the options largest to smallest.

microsoft internet explorer 5.2 (macintosh)

click view, select text zoom and choose a size from the options 50% - 300% or larger or smaller.

netscape 6.0, and 4.0

select edit and select preferences from the menu, a new window will open. select appearance from the left hand side menu within the new window. under fonts reset the size (for example, 10, 12, 14 and so on).

mozilla

select view, select text zoom from the menu and choose a percentage size or select larger or smaller.

opera

select view and select zoom from the menu, and then select a size from the list.

safari

select view and then select make text bigger to increase the font size or make text smaller to reduce the font size.

printer friendly

throughout the web site, every page is printer friendly. simply use the print function of your browser to print whichever page you like. the print function is usually located under the file menu of your browser window. when a web page is printed, it will only print the title of the page, the location of the page as well as the content. navigation menus are automatically removed for your convenience to improve readability on paper.

standards compliance

the iwoman web site has been built according to html 4.01 transitional specifications and conforms to web consortium accessibility guidelines (wcag) priority 1 and 2 checkpoints.

page design and layout is controlled by cascading style sheets (css) and has been written according to the css 2.1 specifications.
